Uggs have been around since the 1930s, gaining a rise in popularity in the 60s and 70s in New Zealand and Australia, and worldwide popularity in the 2010s. Made from suede, sheepskin, and with merino wool lining, you may think they are perfect for winter and the snow.

All though they are warm, traditional ones are not waterproof. If you step in snow or water, your feet may get wet and the boot itself may become damaged over time.

You can spray your boots with waterproof spray, however, the spray may not make them completely waterproof and you have to reapply frequently.

The bottom of the boot is made from foam material, not rubber, making it have a poor grip on ice and slippery surfaces.

However, that doesn’t mean you can’t wear your boots in dry conditions and with a variety of cute outfits.

About Ugg Boots

About Ugg Boots

Ugg originated in Australia. Their boots were initially meant for surfers to slip on a warm, cozy shoe after coming out of the water. Uggs were also intended to be worn barefoot as the sheepskin lining is naturally insulating as well as moisture-wicking.

The soft inner lining molds into the shape of your foot, creating a customized fit for ultimate comfort and support.

The foam bottom is similar to flip-flops, making them easy to navigate on sandy beaches.

The rise of popularity of the brand had people wearing the boot in a variety of locations and climates, leading to boots being damaged by snow, water, and weather they were not designed for.

In the present day, Ugg has expanded its brand to include boots made from rubber that are truly waterproof and meant for the snow and winter.

Skinny Jeans

Skinny Jeans

Uggs are still a great choice to wear in the spring and fall with a pair of skinny jeans. Skinny jeans fit nicely inside the boot and show them off without covering them or getting folded up and wrinkled.
